The Meigs county Purchase & Finance department operates under the authority of the Meigs County Financial Management Act of 2007 or “Private Act”. The department administers the financial accounting and recording for all county departments with the exception of Meigs county schools. Primary responsibilities of the office include purchasing, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, county budget, audit preparations, bid solicitations, capital assets and debt management, maintaining all county grants, overseeing county purchasing policies, preparing information for the CLB to make fiscally sound decisions while allocating resources, payroll, employee benefits, insurance, and human resources.
The finances of Meigs county are audited annually by Local Government Audit Services and the State of Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury.
